Jubilee is open year-round and offers many after-school academic/tutoring programs and mentoring programs. Jubilee Family Development Center changes lives. Each day, Jubilee’s staff and volunteers serve as teachers and role models to hundreds of children and young adults who come to Jubilee for tutoring, mentoring, and social support services. Jubilee’s dedication to their success, and the success that these children in turn demonstrate through their academic and personal growth, proves that the knowledge that someone believes in you can generate tremendous pride in oneself.

 Youth Educational Support (YES) Program

Building strong academic foundations for Lynchburg’s at-risk youth. The YES Program rolls five individual programs – After School Tutoring Program, Summer Tutoring Program, Young Men’s Mentoring Program, Girls Empowered for More Success (GEMS) Mentoring Program, and the Reading and Learning Intervention Program – into one program for measuring goals, results, and success.

Summer Enrichment Camp

An abundance of research points to the loss of learning over summer break (the “summer slide”) as detrimental to reading achievement. Jubilee’s annual Summer Enrichment Camp helps combat this trend by providing high-quality academic opportunities for children ages 6 to 12 on a daily basis. From the beginning of June through mid-August, children come to Jubilee Family Development Center each day to participate in fun and educational programming designed to stimulate learning, creativity, and teach valuable life skills.

Jubilee partners with several community organizations and local colleges to offer STEM and vocational classes and certification trainings , including Auto Service/Machine Trade, Culinary Arts, Graphics/Commercial Printing, Construction/Building Trade, and Health/Dental.
